Writing

Picture

Where do I start?

Have lots of ideas you'd like to get on paper?
Picture

Write an outline of your story.

You need the beginning and end to know where you're going, or you might get lost.

Write all of your story in rough draft.

Don't stop to edit, there's plenty of time to do that later, trust me.

Take the proper steps to create a well written story.

Picture
1. Know your characters well - their desires, abilities, dislikes, goals,            family, etc.
2. Know what goal they're trying to achieve.
3. Develop a problem that blocks their goals, maybe more than one.
4. Develop an Archrival that makes their life miserable.
5. List props that will be discovered along the way (hidden money, keys       to a room).
6. Write down all the locations where this story will take place, and               research for accuracy in details.

Take a coffee break when needed. Then you can focus on the next step.

When you have all the information you think will apply to the story, begin your first rewrite.

1. Flesh out each scene. Make them move the story forward.
2. Make your characters real and individual from the others in voice and       actions.
3. Use descriptions of scenes and characters that stand out, make you         feel the moment they're in.

You'll do many more rewrites to catch everything you need to make a great story,i.e.: dialogue, spelling, pacing, etc.

The best thing you can do as a writer, is read everything you can on writing and the publishing world. Read books in your genre and get the feel for how they flow. Find a group to work with for feedback and ideas. New writers, especially, can't work in a vacumn. Make sure your writing is correct in puncuation, spelling and word usage.

Well, these are a few comments on how to begin writing. There's lots to learn before producing a manuscript ready for print. Get busy!

Keep Writing.
Sherry
